Following my iSee exhibit I learned of Venetia Deardon’s journalistic coverage of London Fashion Week and was taken with her commissioned book on the history of the fashion house Mulberry. Together we conceptualized an exhibit with select images from the book for an exhibit to open during Boston Fashion week. We conducted a live stream gallery talk (see below) and interview from her London studio to our audience in the Griffin/DSI Gallery.

An exhibition of photographs by Venetia Dearden
October 5 – November 11, 2012

Opening during Boston Fashion Week, UNDRESSED, gives us a delightful backstage glimpse. The seemingly effortless visions we observe in the glossy September issues of fashion magazines and on runways worldwide are the results of work by teams including designers, creative directors, technicians, brand specialists, advertising agencies, photographers, models, stylists, hair and make-up artists. The set of a fashion photography shoot is a high-intensity mix of numbing detail, endless flexibility, fantastical vision, hard work and kismit. Countless hours lead up to fleeting fashion moments.

UNDRESSED is a sampling of color and B&W photographs from this exclusive collaboration shown for the first time in the US. British photographer, Venetia Dearden, is recognized as an emerging force in the editorial, commercial and fashion world. She and her well-worn passport traverse the globe on a mission of creating and sharing tales as a photojournalist.

We are delighted to offer Dearden’s sparkling work alongside her published books including, Mulberry, and the Rencontres d’Arles book award nominated, Eight Days. Art and Commerce gave Dearden their Peek Award. She has exhibited internationally with a solo show at the London Portrait Gallery. Represented by VII Photo Agency in NY, London and Paris, she is also signed with Santucci Co.
