Donato Di Camillo

For this exhibit:

I met Donato during Photoville and began to assist him with his first solo exhibit. We began with 70 images and edited the selection to 40 impactful images. I chose to blend the various genres and locations of Donato’s street photography and portraiture to reflect the cacophony which is NYC - his main subject. We varied the size of prints and created 4 large attention-grabbing banners. Another exhibit decision was to incorporate the B & W with color work. We collaborated with the professional installation and exhibit design team led by Daniel Schnur.

Artist’s Statement:

“An old-timer once told me, “Shoot what you know,” so that’s what I did. I took pictures of the streets that I grew to know so well. I took bits and pieces of ideas from photographers who came before me and created what I like to think of as my own unique interpretation of life. We are all human beings, and we all share a commonality. A photograph should evoke feeling and emotion, it should bare its soul.”
