The Journey
Where It Started
After combining a graduate degree in counseling and advocacy with one in design, I spent many years creating visual content for international advertising campaigns and print publication editorials. My roles included wardrobe stylist, art direction and creative director. My serendipitous foray into curating occurred as a result of establishing a satellite gallery for a regional museum of photography, where I was responsible for curating and producing solo and group shows featuring a spectrum of genres from fashion to photojournalism.
How It Grew
As a curator, consultant and educator for the past decade, I’ve been deeply immersed in visual imagery. My teaching and consultation practice centers on how to make an abstract idea tangible in text and image. My work with visual artists is a collaborative process where our intentions and goals are to identify the essence of one’s work, establish context and amplify it in ways that are both engaging and educational.
My work enables me to form an expansive network of relationships with international photographers, galleries and multiple art and educational institutions that has brought me to Tokyo, Paris and across the United States. My exhibits have travelled across America to Tokyo, Mexico City and Medellîn.
Where It’s Going
In 2019, I opened and established an urban studio that would serve as a hub of collaboration, innovation and creative practice. My intention has been to create a vibrant community of engaged image makers, who would be fueled with the tools to confidently create impactful images. Here, I offer in-person and virtual consultations, workshops and educational groups. All of my products and services aim to refine, illuminate and elevate the work of contemporary photographers in written and visual form.
My Concept Aware® curriculum is taught in a variety of formats and is applicable to the advanced student to the established professional.
My online Photobook Book Group offers unscripted conversations with photographers, editors and publishers to gain an insider’s view of our guests' creative practice and bookmaking process. We were thrilled to extend this platform by creating our podcast, Got Punctum? Our listening audience has extended beyond the U.S. and U.K. to include a number of other countries including Turkey, the Netherlands, United Arab Emirates, Korea and Japan.
